There are different points of view of what is criminal behavior. Of course, each person has it own opinion. Crime is the human conduct in violation of the criminal laws of a state, the federal government, or a local jurisdiction that has the power to make such laws, according with Schmalleger. The criminal behavior is the antisocial acts that a person commits for different reasons. This means that the person violated laws constantly for a long or short time period. There are many reasons why criminals commit crimes. Some of the criminals commit crimes for necessity, others for mental illness, and others for bad influences or just wrong decisions. Most of his experience is in enforcing parking violations along with California vehicle codes. Sergio believes that people are not born criminals but instead grow up to be criminals based upo n how the individual was raised according to social struggles. The majority of the criminals come from poor families. For Sergio money is not the main issue in most cases because some criminals have mental illness which could be treated with psychology. Moreover, he too, believes that most criminals know what they are doing, but don’t care about the consequences. He doesn’t believe that social status influence in criminals. He believes it is more about mental illness. He said, â€Å"There are criminals who commit crimes out of necessity like the poor, there are criminals who commit for power like blue collar individuals, and there are the devious individuals who commit crimes for pleasure.† Some of the criminals continue to commit crimes because that’s the way they were thought to think, others continue because of dependency to survive. Sergio said, â€Å"Society in a way pushes criminals to relapse, for example, employment discrimination to ex-convicts .† Also, in his opinion correctional institutions should carefully analyse a convict before releasing them. In the stories â€Å"Beowulf† and â€Å"The Head of Humbaba,† the main characters reflect the descriptions of an â€Å"epic hero†. However in the story, â€Å"The Seafarer,† the main character does not reflect any descriptions of an â€Å"epic hero. † Beowulf and Gilgamesh fit the description because they both go on a quest and have the similar motivations of an epic hero. In contrast, the Seafarer doesn’t fit an â€Å"epic hero† because his journey and motivation doesn’t corr espond. The Seafarer’s journey was to simply travel the sea. His motivation was to make peace with God. Neither of those actions makes the Seafarer and â€Å"epic hero. † Beowulf and Gilgamesh are epic heroes because their journey and motivations fit what an epic hero stands for. They both fought monsters and both their motivation fit an epic hero. The seafarer isn’t an epic hero because his journey and motivation doesn’t correspond to one.
